Bear with My Word of Exhortation (Hebrews 13:22-25; Genesis 3:22-24)

Series conclusion by paraphrasing the entire book of Hebrews.

New Covenant Blessings (Hebrews 13:20-21; Ezekiel 37:15-28)

The author closes his exhortation with a blessing, assuring his hearers that, because God has made peace with his people, he will also equip them to walk after him in this life with a view to the life to come.

The Watchmen of Your Souls (Hebrews 13:17-19; Ezekiel 33:1-16)

The Lord calls the people of God to trust the proclamation of the word of God, which calls them to rest in Christ, knowing that it is given for the saving of their souls.

Priestly Sacrifices (Hebrews 13:15-16; Isaiah 66:18-21)

Being united to Christ we have become priests of God who glorify His name in worship and glorify his name in sacrificial service to our brothers.

Let Us Go Out to Him (Hebrews 13:9-14; Genesis 3:22-24)

Because you already enjoy free access to the tree of life, which is our risen and exalted Savior, you are called to go out into the world bearing his reproach, while you wait for the fullness of that life in the city of God.

The Same Yesterday, Today and Forever (Hebrews 13:7-9)

Because this world is not Jesus home he does not change, his people can never expect to be at home in this world and so must seek grace for the strength to persevere. 

Courageous Confidence (Hebrews 13:4-6; Joshua 1:1-9)

Confidence in the Lord demonstrates itself in a marital fidelity and contentment in your present circumstances. 

Receiving Angels (Hebrews 13:1-3; Genesis 19:1-29)

We rightly receive the ministry of God’s angels by humbly forsaking the comforts and possessions of this world and loving our brothers in affliction.

Offering Acceptable Worship (Hebrews 12:25-29; 10:19-25)

Acceptable worship is that which done in faith, gratitude, and humility in response to the blessings of the new covenant.

The Warning from Heaven (Hebrews 12:22-29; Haggai 2:6)

The Lord is going to come in the fullness of His wrath and judgment, a coming prefigured by His coming to Mt. Sinai, and only those who flee to Christ now, and draw near to Mt. Zion and receive His heavenly kingdom by faith will endure that coming.

Sinai and Zion (Hebrews 12:18-24; 9:26-10:4)

The Old Covenant was intended to humble the children of God and drive them to the grace of the New Covenant, where they find peace with God.

Wrestling with Angels (Hebrews 12:12-17; Genesis 32:22-32)

Jacob serves as the pattern for believers of one who is disciplined by suffering and through it obtains the grace of God through faith and repentance.

The Way to the Tree of Life (Hebrews 12:5-11; Proverbs 3:1, 11-18)

The goal of every believer is to eat the fruit of the Tree of Life and the only way to the Tree is the way of the cross.

Abba Father (Hebrews 12:1-4; 2:10-11; Mark 14:32-42; Romans 8:12-30)

Sons of God necessarily suffer in this world on the road to glory and, as heirs, are granted the privilege of praying Abba Father in the midst of affliction.

Running with Endurance (Hebrews 12:1-4; Luke 22:31-34, 39-46)

The hope of endurance, amidst suffering, is found in Jesus the perfecter of our faith.

The Solidarity of the Saints (Hebrews 11:32-40)

Even though the people of God live in different places throughout history that they are united in a single hope and calling that will ultimately be realized at the resurrection on the Last Day.

The Testimony of Rahab (Hebrews 11:29-31; 10:37-39; Joshua 2, 6)

Rahab testifies that it is not the important people of this world who will preserve their souls on the Last Day, but those who are at peace with God by faith.

The Testimony of Moses (Hebrews 11:23-29; Exodus 2:1-2)

Moses testifies that the New Creation has already begun, but is hidden and veiled in this world, seen only with the eyes of faith.

The Testimony of Isaac, Jacob, and Joseph (Hebrews 11:13, 20-22)

Isaac, Jacob and Joseph testify that believers can willingly endure suffering, pain and persecution in this life, confident they will have the fullness of what was promised in the resurrection.

The Testimony of Abraham, Part 2 (Hebrews 11:11-12, 17-19; Genesis 21:8-14; 22:1-2)

Abraham testifies that the heavenly inheritance promised to him can only come through death and resurrection.
