The MOL (2 Thessalonians 2:1-12)

Christians need to be prepared for the Man of Lawlessness who will lead many in the church away from the truth.

  • The MOL (vv. 3-4)

  • God is Restraining Satan (vv. 5-12)

  • The Point of Knowing these Things (vv. 2-3, 5)

Discussion Starters

Monday—How do you usually respond to passage about the end times? Excitement? Fear? Apprehension? Why? Why are these passages recorded in scripture?

Tuesday—Who is the Man of Lawlessness? Why is it particularly important for Christians to hear the warning that he will exalt himself and take his seat “in the temple”? (v. 4)

Wednesday—The word “rebellion” in verse 3 is really “apostasy.” What is apostasy? Can you fall way if you are truly saved? (1 John 2:18-19; Matthew 24:24; John 6:37, 39) So, if true believers can’t fall away, why is there a warning about a great apostasy?

Thursday—What’s the best way to protect yourself against false teachers? What are telltale signs of false teachers?

Friday—Why don’t you need to fear things getting worse? Why don’t you need to fear the Man of Lawlessness? What is your great comfort? (v. 8)
