Precious Stones (Psalm 102)

PRECIOUS STONES (PSALM 102 | JOHN 2:13-22)

Through affliction, God teaches you to cling to the things that really matter— things that are eternal.

  • The Complaint (vv. 1-11)

  • The Kindness of God (vv. 12-21)

  • To the End of Creation (vv. 22-28)

Discussion Starters

Monday—Read Joshua 4:1-7. Do you have any mementos from important times in your life? What are they? Do they represent good times or hard (or both)? Why do you hold onto them?

Tuesday—How do we tend to interpret times of affliction? What do we think they tell us about God? Why? Can you relate to the complaint in verses 1-11?

Wednesday—What is the real reason God allows hard times to come into the lives of his children? How is it an act of pity, kindness, and love?

Thursday—What are some trials in your life that have become precious stones? What lessons did you learn?

Friday—Why does Jesus connect his death with he destruction of the temple? (John 2:13-22) Why is something as horrible as his death precious to us?
